I do a lot of hiking and woods walking in Indiana and Michigan. Sometimes I’m looking up at the sky, fascinated by how vast it is and colorful. Most of the time I’m looking in places most don’t think about as they pass by. Those small crevices under roots and decaying logs. At a hole in a tree. A fallen branch covered in leaves sticking out of the snow to create a cave.

I often wonder who lives in these unknown forgotten places? Obviously there is wildlife, but what else? Gnomes? Fairies? Grand cities of toads? Who knows?
The unknown keeps me coming back for these little time lost pieces of earth happening even when we don’t see them. They buzz in my head like bees until I go find a nook to look upon.
What say you? Is your mind open to believe? Or have you not shed your shell of the mundane daily motion?
